The airfield has been made available to the MOD since 1983, FREE of ALL CHARGES, whenever a request has been made.
One of the many exercises that the airfield hosted was Exercise Eagles Strike in May 2005.
Eagles Strike was operated by 16 Air Assault Brigade, for two weeks with 16 Apache, along with numerous Chinook, Sea King, Lynx etc.
This was the UK MOD launch exercise for the AH-64D APACHE ATTACK HELICOPTER.
From 2006 until 2015 all Apache Attack Helicopter Pilots received their final ‘sign off’ at Eaglescott, pre deployment to Afghanistan.
We were privileged once again, to have been asked to host the British Army in their exercise TITAN which involved both Apache and Wildcat Attack helicopters as part of an exercise for 16 Air Assault Brigade.
You may remember the rescue of British subjects from the Sudanese capital Khartoum in the early hours of the morning in April 2023. This was only made possible utilising 16 Air Assault Brigade. Defence Secretary Ben Wallace made specific mention of their role in his address to the House.
Once again, we were proud and honoured to have hosted the Military in their hugely important task not only in keeping the United Kingdom and its subjects safe, but the important role British Forces have in support of our NATO Allies in Europe.
